Bending machine fixtures are essential for ensuring high-quality production on bending machines, which play an indispensable and critical role in industrial manufacturing. The materials typically used for bending machine fixtures are T8 or T10; for T10A, 42CrMo is recommended. The primary requirements are high strength, good toughness, and excellent wear resistance. Bending machine fixture technology is continually advancing, and to better support the reliable operation of CNC bending machines, the tooling has been refined. Different bending machine dies are suited to different models of bending machines and play a vital role in industrial production.
The service life of a press brake fixture is closely linked to the materials selected. To extend the service life of CNC press brake fixtures, it is essential first to choose high-quality tooling materials; only with superior material quality can the performance of the CNC press brake tooling be fully realized. Second, you can further enhance the tooling’s lifespan by maintaining continuous cutting as much as possible—otherwise, the service life of the CNC press brake tooling will be significantly shortened.
In summary, to extend the service life of CNC press brake tooling, it is essential to start with the die material and the bending process—these are the key factors in prolonging die life.
Do you know the operating procedures for press brake fixtures?
1. Turn on the press brake power supply by rotating the key switch, then press the oil pump start button. The press brake’s oil pump will begin to rotate, but the machine has not yet started operating at this point.
2. Stroke adjustment: When the press brake die is officially put into bending operations, a trial run must be conducted. When the upper die of the press brake reaches its lowest position, there must be a clearance equal to the sheet thickness; otherwise, the die and the machine may be damaged. Stroke adjustment also includes electric quick adjustment and manual fine-tuning.
3. When selecting the notch for a press brake die, the notch width should generally be eight times the plate thickness; for example, when bending a 4-mm-thick metal sheet, a notch width of approximately 32 mm is recommended.
4. Inspect the alignment and secure fit of the upper and lower dies on the press brake; verify that all positioning devices meet the machining requirements, and regularly check the degree of alignment between the upper and lower dies; ensure that the pressure gauge readings comply with the specified limits.
5. When bending, the metal sheet must be firmly clamped to prevent it from tilting and causing injury to the operator.
6. When pressing the sheet material, the power must be disconnected, and work should only be carried out after the machine has come to a complete stop.
7. When adjusting the opening of the lower die on the bending machine, no material is allowed to come into contact with the lower die.
8. The use of press brake fixtures to fold ultra-thick steel plates, quenched steel plates, alloy steels, square bars, or sheet materials that exceed the press brake’s performance specifications is prohibited to prevent damage to the machine tool.
9. Shut down the press brake, place a wooden block beneath the lower die on both sides of the hydraulic cylinders, lower the upper slide onto the wooden block, first exit the control system program, then disconnect the power supply.
